The Global Terrorist Producing State, Pakistan, took up its first-ever Defense Policy in the new year. Just like the new year resolution, the government of Pakistan (Or what is left of it), the Pakistani Army (The real Gods of Pakistan), and their pet terrorists will try their best to dissolve all their earlier policies. This policy is supposedly the brainchild of the new Pakistani NSA, Moeed Yusuf. This Pakistani-American political analyst was hand-picked by Prime Minister Imran Khan Niazi himself. This new policy was decided by consulting with more than 50 experts from various fields, including NGO, military experts, financial experts, think tanks, and many more.
What’s in the Policy:
Like Pakistan, the Defense Policy is expected to be filled with usual Anti-India ‘jibber-jabber’ and yet not made to the public eyes, but the hype is rising faster than the Pakistani Inflation. According to Pakistani Media Reports, the new security policy will be more inclusive and aimed towards internal security to bring all Pakistanis together. The new NSA of Pakistan, Dr. Yusuf, claimed that this policy will be a more citizen-centric approach for security while keeping economic security at its priority. The policy has been furnished to the Pakistani Senate Committee. According to the National Security Committee, the policy should remain in action for five years between 2022 and 2026.
Target Area of the Policy:
The policy will target the following, three main areas of the Pakistani establishment,
- War and Military Resources: The Pakistani military will acquire more advanced resources to strengthen their holdings and capabilities.
- Dealing with TTP and Afghanistan Taliban: The ongoing threats of Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Tehreek-E-Labbaik (TLP) are the two most growing problems regarding the security of Pakistan. Then the Afghanistan Taliban are also started fighting with Pakistan regarding the Durand Line.
- Water and Other Resources: As most of the rivers originated from India and Tibet, and both India and China are trying to control the flow of water by building new dams, Pakistan may soon die of thirst and food shortages due to low agricultural output. After the Uri incident, India has doubled up the speed of building dams and trying to bypass the Indus Water Treaty.
But the main concern should be how the Pakistani establishment functions this year as they are financially bankrupt.
The Hype and Hype Maintenance:
Suppose your Information and Broadcasting Minister is Fawad Chaudhry, who can inflate anything you may even think of. In that case, he’s doing his job extremely fine of creating overhyped claims regarding the new policy. But we are eagerly waiting for Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad, the Pakistani Interior Minister. The Pakistani media is trying their best to keep this hype alive while the policy is still not available to the public.
Along with the Security Policy, Pakistan has also acquired 25 new Made in China J-10C Fighter Jets to counter India’s Rafale Fighter Jets. IndiaAtWar thinks this deal is like fighting against a machine gun with a toothpick.
Implications With India:
According to some sources, Pakistan will try to take a business-centric approach towards India in comparison with China. Pakistan may try to start the business channels which had been shut for years now, and after February 2019, the Pakistani Air-Space is also sealed for India. Pakistani policymakers believe they can start a dialogue with businesses without weakening their stands on Jammu & Kashmir. This year, even during the pandemic, the India-China trade has touched new levels of $114 Billion. Therefore, we can consider this new policy as Business As Usual. We should expect more terrorist exports from Pakistan to the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, the Indian State of Punjab, and more drug shipments at the Indian States of Punjab, Gujrat, and Maharashtra, and more ISI activities in the Union territory of Laccadive.
