T-72 Arjun tanks

Within last ten days, DRDO has successfully test-fired its new Laser Guided Anti-Tank missile having the range up to 5 km. This is a huge breakthrough for the Indian defence research sector. The tests were taken place in the long firing range of Ahmednagar, Maharashtra.

The missile made the older 3rd Generation T-72 tanks more effective weapon of war in the amid rising of Chinse and Pakistani tension in the Indian Sub-continent region.

The T-72 Arjun tanks use a 120 mm smoothbore gun as its main weapon. This main gun is capable of firing several types of Ammunition with a rapid rate of 6 to 8 rounds per minute. The hardworking scientists and engineers of the DRDO have successfully made it capable of firing the modern laser-guided anti-tank missile system. This is a huge success for the Indian defence sector.

In the year 2016, the CAG or The Comptroller and Auditor General of India said 75% of Arjun tanks became ineffective for war due to the lack of spare parts. But, Indian defence ministry had done a great job in procuring the spare parts and within a year more the Arjun tanks became war-ready.

On the other hand, the DRDO has also successfully test-fired the next generation Brahmos Supersonic Missile.
