In the designated test firing range at the Balashore, Odisha the Defence Research Development Organization of India has successfully test-fired the new and upgraded BrahMos Supersonic Cruise Missile. This time, the range was more than 400 km which is a huge increment in terms of the cruise missile, previously the range of this missile was reported 290 km and speed 2.8 mac. This 2.5-ton missile is highly accurate in destroying its target.
Now, let us discuss what we can achieve from it.
- This is a huge boost for the Indian missile launcher and booster technology.
- The missile has now increased range that means we can hit longer enemy targets.
- This could lead ways to design and build new missile systems indigenously.
- It should be considered as a great leap towards the Atmanirbhar Bharat or Self-reliant Indian mission.
- It will make the Indian Army, Navy and Air-Force more powerful as DRDO has already built Land, Sea and Air-Launch version of this missile.
Currently, the BrahMos missile has been successfully inducted in the Indian Army and Navy while the Air-Force it is at the induction phase.

The DRDO is also trying to build a Sub-Marine launch version of the BrahMos missile. This way, the Indo-Russia joint venture is going to make the Indian armed forces stronger than ever. Already, the land-based version of the BrahMos missiles had been deployed in the Arunachal Pradesh due to the Chinese aggression along with Nirbhay and Aakash.
On the other hand, DRDO successfully test-fired Laser-Guided Anti-Tank Missile from the T-72 Arjun Tanks in Ahmednagar Long Test Range, Maharashtra.
