After the abrogation of section 370 and article 35A in August 2019, for the first time, we can see some serious political movement updates coming from the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Om June 24th, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had called an All-Party-Meeting in New Delhi. Leaders of all the Union Territory ‘s political parties were requested to join it. Former chief ministers like Mehbooba Mufti, Omar Abdullah, and Farooq Abdullah to Indian National Congress and BJP leaders, including the prime minister, joined the meeting. According to reports, there could be a possible Assembly Election in the Union Territory and more monitory aids to uplift the conditions of the people and developments. But not everyone looked so happy as Mehbooba Mufti said her party PDP won’t contest in any election until section 370 and article 35A is restored.
But yesterday, June 28th, 2021, was a very eventful day for the security forces in the Kashmir Valley and Jammu. In the middle of the night, nearly quarter to 2 AM, two drones equipped with IEDs exploded on Jammu Airport. According to investigating agencies and armed forces, the drones were probably controlled between 15KM and 5KM away, and the explosives used in the IDEs were made of. There is a possible direct, high-level connection between the Pakistani Army Officials and LeT or Lashkar-e-Taiba. As drones with higher range and accuracy becoming more and more threat towards military and civil establishments and, more importantly, the people. The investigators also said the possible target of the drone was the Indian Air Force’s Helicopters stationed on the Airport and the control tower. But didn’t make any potential damage to the assets. Even this morning, BSF said they had fired a few rounds at unknown drone(s) and forced them to turn back. The BSF, IAF, CISF, and NSG are put on high alert throughout the Union Territory . Indian armed forces are also seeking more and new anti-drone systems to counter these threats in the future. DRDO, Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, Private Firms both Indian and foreign, are onto this.
But the night was just young. At 11PM a Special Police Officer or SPO Fayaz Ahmed and his entire family, including his wife and young daughter, were brutally murdered by the Terrorists at his residence. The incident took place at Hariparigam in the Awantipora area of South Kashmir, around 50 KM from the capital Srinagar. This brutal incident has angered the security personnel and the martyr’s friends and colleagues and triggered the local people of Awantipora. Rally of protests was conducted by the local people, and hundreds of locals came to participate in their last rites.
This deadly and cowardly attack on the SPO and his family was carried out by the JeM or Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists. According to the investigating agency, one of the terrorists is not Indian National or a foreign terrorist.
Now, it’s payback time for the Indian Security Forces. On Monday, June 28th, 2021, at the outskirts of Srinagar, a top commander of the LeT or Lashkar-e-Taiba, Nadeem Abrar, was arrested, and one unknown terrorist was killed on the operation. The arrest took place near Parimpora, which is in close vicinity of Maloora.
As the security forces started to sweep the region, they become engaged in a gunbattle against the terrorists hiding at Maloora. On the operation, 3 security personnel from the CRPF were injured.
