VC 11184VC 11184

With VC 11184 India has become the fifth country after the USA, Russia, France and Communist-controlled China. According to some Indian Navy officials, the name of this ship is named INS Dhruv but not yet confirmed. The planning and construction began on June 30, 2014, and now after nearly two years of harbour and sea trials, VC 11184 has been inducted into the Indian naval force.

This 15,000-ton ship has 2 sets 9000 kW 12,000 hp engines, 3 sets Auxiliary 1,600 hp engines producing 1,200 kW power giving the ship capabilities to go 21 knots or 39 KMPH speed. The engines are capable of producing 15 mW electricity for the massive onboard radar and tracking system. This ship just cost INR 1500 or USD 270 million. This is one of the largest ships made by Hindustan Shipyard under the Make in India campaign.

The ship was built keeping in focus the threats of Nuclear ballistic missile and to help the missile defence systems currently in use. But the ship’s super strong X-Band and S-Band AESA radars will also be useful with the upcoming missile defence systems. The ship is also capable of handling the new emerging threats such as the hypersonic missile and 6th generation fighter jets. The strong and efficient radars are speculated of tracking satellites in orbit. The Engineers and Scientists of DRDO, NTRO, RAW and various other defence agencies have given their best to create his beast to ensure our skies free of threats.

As both the east and west neighbours of India are nuclear-capable, it will take just seconds to reach any targeted Indian city, reducing the response time extremely low for our forces to prevent any attack. But this ship will give our forces a great edge to defend our lands from a missile attack.

VC 11184 also has a helicopter landing and take-off platform.
