After several raids at their various offices located in different cities in India, the Amnesty International stops its operations in India. The NGO was under the radar of the Indian investigation agencies since it’s early days. Suppose you are planning to open an NGO in India and planning to receive funds. In that case, you need to register your organization and comply with the regulations of the 2010’s Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act. But, after receiving funds in millions from its foreign contributors, Amnesty International allegedly never revel or shared its data with the Indian agencies. For this all the bank accounts of the Amnesty International was frozen, finally leading to a halt of all the operations of the NGO in India.

In its earlier days of establishment in 1966, Amnesty International did some good works such as promoting Women’s Rights in India with the collaboration of the Railway Protection Force. But, in the last few years, their focus had seemed to be changed in defaming India and the Indian Government in various international platforms.

In the year 2015, the NGO tried to stop the execution of Indian-born terrorist Yakub Memon by promoting anti-execution laws in India. Before that, back in 2012 the NGO also tried to stop the execution the deadly terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasab who killed dozens of people in the 26/11 attacks. After that, they also protested the execution of Afzal Guru, who was the mastermind of 2001: Indian Parliament Attack.

In recent days, Amnesty International also protested the abrogation of Section 370 and Article 35A from the Indian Constitution in August 2019, which used to allow some special amenities to the people of the former state of Jammu & Kashmir (Now Indian Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and Indian Union Territory of Ladakh). This year, they tried to defame India by preaching statements about the Delhi riots telling it was against the Muslim population of India, which is utterly untrue. The Pakistani administration quickly picked up these statements and they started which they do the best fail attempts to defame India at the World Stage. According to experts, there are many statements, and reports of the Amnesty International were picked up by Pakistan and used them to undermine India.

In recent days, it can be said that the NGO was mostly promoting the Pakistani anti-India agenda instead of its main works, such as promoting social justice and human rights activities.

This should be a wake-up call for the other 31 lakhs or 3.1 Million registered NGOs currently operating in India.
